In March 2016, development was resumed by Sumo Digital.ĭespite the reiteration by the UK software house about the continuation of the project, and finally in August 2019 the ball passed into the hands of Dumbuster Studio, an internal studio of Deep Silver. The title, presented at the conference Sony E3 2014 with a trailer, was initially in development at the German software house Yager Development in the division Yager Productions GmbH however, the latter abandoned development (only to fail in 2015), due to creative differences with the publisher Deep Silver. This is just the latest in a whole series of news about the troubled development of the game. Through a job posting from Dambuster Studios, it came to light that Dead Island 2, originally planned for Xbox One, PC e PlayStation 4, will no longer be released on old-gen consoles, but will only be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S e PC.
